Sex and the City – directed by Michael Patrick King

Carrie and the gang is back with their designer labels and their love lives.

The movie takes off from four years after the TV show ended. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), her husband Steve and their son have made a life for themselves in Brooklyn. Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is settled in a monogamous relationship and has been living in LA. Carrie (Sarah J. Parker) has been in a 3 year realtionship with Mr. BIG and things are ready to be taken to  the next logical step. One thing that does not change – all four of them are the best friends that they were.

Carrie & BIG’s BIG decision to get married does not have the ending that Carrie wanted. Her dreams shattered she looks for consolation from friends and work and pieces her life together.

The basic theme of the story is that life is not a fairy tale. The four girlfriends’ lives represent four samples of very real relationships. Miranda in a marriage that is fading, Samantha’s slow suffocation in a relationship that changes who she is and Carrie  always running after love. Charlotte(Kristen Davis) has a lucky break in the movie with nothing absolutely wrong in her life.

I wish I could say more about the movie or the message but there is not much. It is pretty much like any other episode of the series. Their is enough eye candy and humour to keep you interested through the 2 hours.

‘Sex & the City’ movie retains the essence of the TV show. And thats what makes it watchable

Verdict : Watchable once. But only for the ladies.

Before talking about who we are, we’d like to tell you a bit about how and why Shades of Words came into being. It all started with the idea of “A place where we could share with likeminded people about things we enjoy. From books to music to movies to travel; Shades of Words was to be a place about the best of our experiences” We thought about why should anyone read us? The answer was that whatever we review would be a mix of our experience of the thing along with interesting and useful information about it. So in case you are reading us regularly or even checking us out once in a while then we have succeeded in our efforts someway somewhere. Who are we? Known as Kapil Sood and Vipula Gupta, we thought of Shades of Words on one fine Sunday afternoon. Tired of writing interesting RFP’s and project documentation; we decided to give this a shot. Yes! We work in Indian IT industry. Cupid struck us while were innocently slogging together on the highly intricate job of formatting and beautifying documents! And since then, we have been working together to establish Shades of Words as a place that we can claim as ours. (Because buying a house is still years away!) What else? Kapil also writes some blogs which you can read here and here.

  1. hehe same goes for the series – Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle. Lots of eye candy with no real story. I bought this CD but am yet to watch it.
